I am hosting my first ever contest!

With the help of my good friend, and designer Janet Carr (see previous post to learn all about Janet.)  I designed a Freebie Quick Pocket template for you to try.  It is not included in the Quick Pockets kit.  Janet designed a really fun freebie digital kit called "The Academic".

So, here is the deal.  Download the free template and free kit and make as many page layouts as you would like.  Post your layouts on my Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/221071755055/

I will put all of the completed page layouts into a Facebook album for everyone to enjoy.  Then, Janet and I will use a program called random.org that randomly chooses three winners!  You may submit as many page layouts as you would like.  The more the merrier and the better chance you have of winning!

Introducing My Creative Team

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my Creative Team!

They have been working for a few weeks, behind the scenes, making some fun page layouts for us! I really appreciate all of their contributions!!

Missy Franklin Baker – I would like to thank Missy for all of her help in the production of this “Quick Pockets” project. I asked her to beta test the project and she did an outstanding job of documenting issues. She also offered many ideas and suggestions for improvements for me to implement! Her input and ideas have truly helped mold this project. Missy has also been a voice of knowledge on my Facebook group, answering questions and providing documents to help everyone. I can’t thank Missy enough!

Lori Bickford – Lori has been using my templates since I first started selling my templates on CD’s! Lori was also instrumental in helping mold this project. She is a very talented designer. I cannot believe how many pages she has completed in her personal scrapbooking. I think I have seen more pages posted on Facebook by Lori, documenting her wonderful family, than anyone else I know. Introducing "Quick Pockets"

I am very excited to share with you my newest design project "Quick Pockets"!

This is a new, fast and fun way to complete digital scrapbook pages.  This project was inspired by Digital Project Life®.  I designed the templates so they may be used with all of the fun digital content available for Digital Project Life®, also known as known as Pocket Scrapbooking.

Quick Pockets templates work in Storybook Creator Plus 3.0 & 4.0 and Artisan.  You may fill the pockets with photos, pre-designed cards, paper and embellishments.

What Is Digital Project Life® & Digital Pocket Scrapbooking?

I am almost finished designing new templates!  I want to give you a little background on where I got the idea for these templates and how you can use them to make fast and fun digital scrapbook layouts.

I would like to state that Digital Project Life® is a registered Trademark of Becky Higgins LCC and that Laurie Callison's Visual Vocabulary is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Official Digital Project Life®.   I just want to enlighten all of you about a scrapbooking trend that I find fast and fun.

Project Life® started as a traditional form of scrapbooking that has become a huge trend in traditional, hybrid and digital scrapbooking.  Since my focus is on digital scrapbooking, I was intrigued by the concept.  However, I was not able to find page layout templates for use with StoryBook Creator or Artisan.  The template market for this concept is focused on Photoshop users right now.  I know many of you are looking to see what else is out there in the digital scrapbooking market and I want to be able to provide you with the templates.  This is an easy way to try something with a fresh new look but familiar software!

The term "Digital Project Life®" is a registered trademark of Becky Higgins.  Therefore, many digital scrapbook designers have adopted the term "Pocket Scrapbooking", due to the fact that the pages are designed to look as if they were divided into multiple pockets, imitating the traditional method of the concept.  The pockets are filled with photos and what are commonly referred to as "cards" or "journal cards".  There are many designers that offer these cards for sale and there are tons of freebie cards available.  The industry standard for the size of the cards are 3x4, 4x6, 4x4 and 6x6.  They are sold, or given away as freebies, as downloadable .png files.  These .png card files are what StoryBook and Artisan users refer to as embellishments.  Therefore, when you download the card files, you save them into a personal art kit as embellishments.

My new templates are designed so you may drag and drop your photos into the pockets (which are all live photo boxes) or you may drag and drop the cards into the pockets.  If you choose to not use cards, you may use each of the pockets for photos.

They are designed in .page format, so they will work in StoryBook Creator 3.0 & 4.0 as well as Artisan.  I am also in the process of recording free video training, demonstrating how to use the templates.

I "Google-ed" and screen captured each of the following terms to give you an idea of what each of the options look like and how big of a trend this has become.  Stay tuned for the new template package soon!  - Enjoy!

Digital Project Life Inspired Templates - Coming Soon!

It is time for some fresh new templates!

The concept is very cool.  The only problem is, the templates are all .psd files for use in Photoshop.  I am taking the concept and redesigning the layouts to work in StoryBook Creator and Artisan.  I am also adding a few of my own ideas because I know many of you requested two page spreads for your layouts.  I must get back to designing!  Check back here often.  I hope to have them ready for sale soon!

Panstoria Announces Printing Partnership!

This is great news!

Panstoria announces upcoming printing service for albums, photos, gifts, and more Dayton, OH – July 25, 2013 – Panstoria, creators of the Artisan 4.0 digital scrapbooking software, today announced a partnership that will allow users of its software to upload and order printed products directly from the Artisan software. The partnership between Panstoria and Utah Print Solutions will provide Panstoria with its own branded photo center.  The integration of high quality print services with the Panstoria software will allow users to create and print their projects without the need to search the internet for an online printer. “Utah Print Solutions is the ideal partner for Panstoria in this venture,” said Mike Carroll, Panstoria CEO.  “As the exclusive printer for companies such as Heritage Makers and Persnickety Prints, they understand our market and its demand for quality products and service.” Panstoria expects to open the yet-to-be-named print center at the beginning of September. Blurb Books Are So Fun!

Hi Everyone,
I want you to see one of the fun things you can do with your books made through Blurb. I designed this book for my mom. She is an artist. I photographed all of her paintings and designed this book for her. I had several copies of the book printed and gave one to each of my siblings for Christmas last year.

Then, I used the same book and created an Ebook through Blurb. Now I can share the Ebook through Facebook, my blog and view it on my iPad and iPhone. Pretty cool! This is a great idea for group occasions such as family reunions, weddings and parties. When someone views the book and wishes to purchase a copy for themselves, they may do so. If you would like to make a profit from selling your book, you may change the price of the book online and keep the difference .

Blurb also makes really awesome Ebooks with video and audio embedded in the Ebook file. Can you imagine, making a book for grandma and including your child's voice or video in the Ebook? It's a whole new world out there!

Panstoria releases Historian photo management and editing software

Hi Everyone,
I designed this Monopoly template a few years ago.  I was asked to bring it back today.  It is a .page file so it works in StoryBook Creator 3.0, 4.0 and Artisan.  Each of the gray areas are individual photo openings.  I created the "Dogopoly" page using my dogs as inspiration.  I would love to see what "...opoly's" you can come up with!

Official Update From Panstoria

Panstoria understands the difficult situation that many of you find yourself in with regard to the future of software developed by Panstoria but sold under a third-party brand name.  We cannot answer all of your questions yet, but are working diligently to be able to do so.  Here is what we can say at this time. Panstoria Historian (photo editing and organization software) Panstoria will soon be releasing its Historian software for photo editing and organization.  The Historian software will be 100% compatible with vaults created by other Panstoria-developed photo editing and organization software.  You will not lose any information by opening your vault with Historian.  In fact, the process for moving to Historian is as simple as installing Historian and using the Open Vault function to browse to your current vault. Panstoria Artisan (digital scrapbooking software) 1. Panstoria’s Artisan software is already available at http://www.panstoria.com/store. 2. Artisan can open user-created projects and pages if those projects and pages are in 3.0 format—that is, the project is named “manifest.projectx” and the page files have an extension of “PAGE”.  Files with an extension of SBPAGE cannot be opened by Artisan.  You can use the options on the “File > Save as” or “File > Save project as” menus to save current projects or pages in 3.0 format.  The pages do not have to be saved in JPG format in order to be used by Artisan. 3. Users of Artisan who purchased Artisan prior to August 2011 can open third-party digital content in PACKAGE files (i.e. the file extension is PACKAGE).  However, no Artisan users can presently open third-party digital content in SBKIT files. Artisan is prevented from using this digital content by legal barriers, not technical barriers.  We are hoping to be able to remove those legal barriers. 4. If the digital content from a PACKAGE or SBKIT file has been placed on a page and saved in 3.0 format, then the user can use that content when the page is opened by Artisan. 5. Artisan can use any digital content in JPG, PNG, or TIF formats. 6. Artisan does not have any built-in print provider.  However, you can export your projects and pages in a variety of formats, including JPG and PDF, then upload those projects to be printed at any number of places on the internet. Another new feature in the upcoming Historian photo management and editing software! You will be able to post a photo or photos, along with a caption, directly on your Facebook wall. You will still be able to upload photos to new or existing Facebook albums as well, but the wall post option will allow you to share your photos and stories even more easily.

This was the comment from Panstoria: 

We are still planning on releasing the software the week of July 15. The retail price is $39.95.
